How long should I sit in the Far Infrared Sauna for?
A typical sauna session would be 30 - 45 minutes at 45 - 65 degrees Celsius.
Our iHealth Sauna can also be used for a warm up regime prior to exercise or working out. This is especially beneficial to athletes.
A Sauna session is also a great post-activity warm-down, especially in cold weather.
Sauna sessions can be extended whilst remaining comfortable.
Weight Loss Management
A 10-year study published by The New England Journal of Medicine discovered that the circumference of your waist alone is a critical factor for assessing the risk of premature death.
The results of a study on the health benefits of far infrared saunas concluded that “infrared sauna use is beneficial for lowering blood pressure, weight and waist circumference."
You can burn up to 600 calories in one session! Our body uses energy to produce sweat. We burn 0.586 of a calorie to produce 1 gram or milliliter of sweat. A moderately conditioned person can easily sweat off up to 1000gms or more in an iHealth sauna session.
1000ml x 0.586 cal = 586 calories burned!
While this weight loss can be regained by re hydration with water, the calories burnt will not be regained. This is a valuable system for those who don’t exercise and those who can not exercise.
Detox Made Easy
The most natural way for the body to rid itself of toxins is through the sweating process. Humans have been detoxifying using this process for tens of thousands of years. Infrared sauna therapy aids this release of toxins by resonating the bonds that hold toxins locked in the subcutaneous fat layer under the skin.
Researchers analyzed the sweat from both traditional and infrared saunas. Sweat from traditional sauna users was about 97% water and 3% toxins. Infrared saunas produced sweat that was only 80 — 85% water. The remaining 15-20% was made up of heavy metals, sulfuric acid, sodium, ammonia, uric acid and fat-soluble toxins.5
