Dry body brushing sloughs off dry skin and slays cellulite. What are you waiting for? Like flossing and taking those expensive supplements, dry body brushing is one of those things you know you should be doing daily, but probably don't. To remind us of the endless benefits - we're talking unclogging pores and shifting cellulite here:
How will dry body brushing benefit my body? "Dry body brushing speeds up the transport of oxygen to the body's cells and tissue, aiding the lymph nodes, ducts and vessels in the detoxification of the blood. Through stimulating the normal lymph flow within the body and helping to detoxify it naturally, dry body brushing suppresses the formation of cellulite, varicose veins and skin discoloration." Related Story Will it exfoliate my dry skin? "Helping to exfoliate and eliminate clogged pores and ingrown hairs, the process of running a firm, natural bristled brush over the skin helps loosen and remove dead skin cells, naturally exfoliating the skin. Even after the first session, skin feels softer and suppler. Additionally, through eliminating clogged pores, skincare can consequently penetrate better." Can it really help me detox? "Bacteria, toxins and other waste from our blood, filters through the lymph nodes where bacteria is destroyed, however improper detoxification means a compromised immune system and increased predisposition to viruses and illness. As dry body brushing stimulates our lymphatic system, by doing so, we are directly assisting them in detoxifying pathogens, strengthening our immune systems and lessening our susceptibility to illness." So, how do I do it? "Always brush towards the heart starting under your feet and from there, moving upwards. Use long, straight, smooth strokes to match the sensitivity of your skin. As you are stimulating the body to release toxins you'll double up on the detoxifying effects if you drink plenty of clean water thereafter." Is it best to do it in the morning or evening? "In the morning before showering. Dry body brushing stimulates blood flow and circulation, energising the body, mind and skin. We would advise not to body brush before bed or in the evening for this reason!" Can I use any regular body brush? "BodeCare's Body Brush ($42) Non-Toxic Dry Body Brush, has not been sprayed with chemicals. This is beautifully crafted FSC certified oiled timber, hand crafted in Germany and made of the finest Tampico plant bristles. This is from our premium range of eco dry body brushes.
